Some ECU need to be re-programmed to work in the car for a variety of reasons. Most often the replacement ECU will need to be re-programmed to the cars immobilizer. Other times the ECU may store the cars VIN number and other important information. ECU programming must be done by a Dealership or mechanic that has the proper tools to do it.
